FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A few more helpful answers

Quick answers to some common hosting, email and domain questions. We’ll add more useful questions here over time.

How much hosting space do I need?

For many customers, 5GB–10GB is a good starting point, particularly if you will be using your hosting account for email. Attachments, photos and documents can gradually use more space than expected. Regular housekeeping and storing older mail locally on your computer can help reduce the amount of server space you use.

You are not locked into a contract, so your HostingServicesWA plan can be upgraded or downgraded later if your needs change.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my hosting plan later?

Yes. If you find you need more — or less — space, just contact HostingServicesWA and we can help change your plan. You do not need to get the choice perfect on day one.

Can I transfer my existing domain name to HostingServicesWA?

Yes. Your domain can remain with its existing provider and be pointed to your HostingServicesWA hosting account, or we can help transfer the domain to HostingServicesWA so your domain and hosting can be managed in one place.

Where do I log in to Webmail?

Add /webmail to the end of your own domain name. For example: https://myexampledomain.com.au/webmail. Log in using your full email address and your email password.

Who is auDA?

auDA (the .au Domain Administration) is the not-for-profit organisation that administers Australia’s .au domain name system. It sets and administers the rules for Australian domain names such as .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, .id.au and .au.

In simple terms, HostingServicesWA can register and manage your domain name for you, while auDA oversees the rules and operation of Australia’s .au domain system. Visit the auDA website →

Is my server down? Where can I check?

If you cannot access your website or email, it does not necessarily mean the HostingServicesWA server is down. The problem could be with your internet connection, DNS, your device or an individual website.

You can use Down for Everyone or Just Me → to check whether your website can be reached from elsewhere. If your website appears to be unavailable to everyone, or you are also having problems with email, contact HostingServicesWA and we’ll investigate it for you.

What happens when my web hosting is due for renewal?

HostingServicesWA hosting services are renewed annually. Around 30 days before your hosting is due for renewal, we’ll send you an invoice for the next hosting period.

You can pay the invoice at any time from when you receive it up until the due date shown on the invoice. There is no need to wait until the due date to make payment.

Once payment is received, your hosting will continue as normal for the next hosting period. If you no longer require your hosting service, or you’re unsure about anything on your renewal invoice, simply contact HostingServicesWA before the due date and we’ll be happy to help.
